Unavantaluna

Unavantaluna is an ensemble of musicians united by their common Sicilian background and a passion for the arts and folk traditions of their land. In the project there is a strong need to unite the past with the present searching a possible balance between tradition and innovation. For this reason, tarantellas, contradances and songs of the maritime tradition come up beside original compositions performed in a traditional style.

Unavantaluna was founded in 2004 by Carmelo Cacciola, Luca Centamore, Pietro Cernuto and Francesco Salvadore, and the four founders still constitute the basic line-up of the group.

Over the years, Unavantaluna has performed in Italy and abroad reaching 4 continents, from Germany to France, from Tunisia to Switzerland. They were honored to present their performance at the National Theatre in Taipei in 2016. and in 2013 Unavantaluna with their song Isuli won the Andrea Parodi Award, the most important recognition in Italy dedicated to world music.

Sicilian songs and powerful voices, archaic musical instruments and millenary stories, arrangements and new sounds: a group with a great impact and very captivating during their live performances!
