Born in 2019 Folkatomik is an Italian band based in Turin, that stands out by a sound that combine Italian traditional southern music and electronic avantgarde.
The rhythmic cyclicity generated by work songs, the dance music of the subaltern classes of southern Italy embrace the tradition of other places in a new electronic and acoustic global sound. Drums, flutes, reeds, string instruments and voices meet synthesizers & mechanics. In June 2022, following the winning of Puglia Sound’s call for new productions, their first record Polaris was released, published by Italysona.
The record has already excellent reviews and entered the August 2022 World Music Chart among the 40 top-rated records by industry journalists. The band’s powerful point is the live performance: strong and explosive! This has allowed Folkatomik to participate to important festivals and shows including Carpino Folk Festival, Musiconnect – Italy 2021 Dj and Producer, Medimex Bari 2022, Notte della Taranta 2022, MEI for Eurovision TORINO 2022, Premio Parodi.
